Originally inaugurated as a travel agency on 21st July 1966 by the then Minister for Tourism, the Hon. Dr Paul Borg Olivier, and blessed by HE Mons Michael Gonzi, Archbishop of Malta, the newly refurbished office has officially been re-opened 19th June 2015 by Minister for Tourism, the Hon. Dr Edward Zammit Lewis. Present on both occasions was Mr Neville Mifsud, back then head of the SMS Travel & Tourism division and now chairman of the SMS Group.
Located at 311, Republic Street, Valletta, corner with Ordnance Street, opposite the Royal Opera House ruins, the office finds itself in a landmark position that is conspicuous to anyone entering the capital city.
Engaging the services of prestigious design firm Martin Xuereb & Associates, the interior of the offices reflect a fresh, contemporary design whilst the external apertures have been restored to their former beauty and to be in sync with the Palazzo Ferreria of which the office forms part of.
In its half century of uninterrupted use as a travel agency, the location has arranged over half a million holidays and business trips for Maltese residents going abroad.
